Welcome to the exhibition of Origami/paper folding and related works by H. AZUMA.
The object has appeared in the preceding article, one of the variations of Ura-Jiro. The structure is composed of alternating iterative folds over pairs of parallel mountain- and valley- creases like knitting ; the method makes its gradually curved spatial shape since the elasticity of paper affects on piled up cells of its folded structure.Lower left:
This is a symmetric shape with respect to its diagonal (or 'mid-rib') line of the structure ; its iterative folding pattern of creases is almost the same with that of the other. It is also formed into a gradually curved spatial shape because of the elasticity of paper, but this object is not composed of being applied to the 'knitting' method.
Lower left: folded as "Type #2" in the article 'Ura-Jiro';
Upper right: modified to be larger and gentler in its shape.
